The faults that waste the most money are chased by replacement: a new breaker, then a new outlet, then a new fitting, symptom unchanged. Loose back-stabbed connections, shared neutrals, cable damaged by a nail or a rodent, and failing devices account for most of it, and each looks different on a meter.

Detail
What we watch for
- Back-stabbed connections checked — the commonest cause of outlets that work only sometimes
- Shared neutrals identified — why two unrelated circuits can misbehave together
- Rodent and nail damage traced — common in attics and crawl spaces here
- Verified under load — a fault that shows only under load is tested under load
Questions
Asked often
Why does it only trip sometimes?
Usually a loose connection that heats and expands, a fault appearing only under load, or moisture reaching a circuit in wet weather. Each leaves its own signature when tested.
Should I worry about a warm outlet?
Yes. A plate warm to the touch usually means a loose connection behind it, and loose connections make heat. Switch the circuit off and have it looked at.
